It's time for the Pretty Pink Posh watercolor blog hop!! I love the amazing blog hops Paulina makes, and the fact that we all can participate! So when I heard that there would be a watercolor blog hop I had to make a card for it :).

Pretty Pink Posh organiseert een paar keer per jaar een grote blog hop, dit keer is het gericht op waterverf! Paulina bedenkt een leuk onderwerp voor de blog hop én we mogen allemaal meedoen. Toen ik hoorde dat het deze keer over waterverf zou gaan moest ik natuurlijk ook een kaartje maken :).

I love to use embossing powder when I'm going to watercolor. You can create 'puddles' of color inside the embossed lines and you don't have to worry too much about touching colors etc. It's just a relaxing and easy way to watercolor. For this card I embossed a stamp from Viva Decor (Rosette) with white embossing powder from Wow! I used distress markers to color the image and added water to spread the colors around. 

Ik vind het leuk om embossing poeder te gebruiken wanneer ik waterverf gebruik. Je kunt dan kleine 'poeltjes' met kleur maken binnen de lijnen van embossing en je hoeft je minder zorgen te maken wanneer kleuren elkaar zouden kunnen raken. Een relaxte en leuke manier om waterverf te gebruiken dus. Voor deze kaart heb ik een stempel van Viva Decor gebruikt en wit embossingpoeder van Wow! De stempel zelf heb ik ingekleurd met Distress Markers en ik heb water gebruikt om de markers tot 'waterverf' om te toveren.

To finish my card I used patterned paper from Lawn Fawn and a pink ribbon. As the last finishing touch I added a little bit of Wink of Stella to the pink petals.

Om mijn kaart af te maken heb ik gekleurd papier van Lawn Fawn gebruikt en een roze lintje. Als laatste finishing touch heb ik nog wat wink of stella toegevoegd op de roze blaadjes.

Maybe you've seen my little haul on instagram from Create A Smile Stamps. They have some really great stamp sets and I couldn't wait to start creating :). Today I want to share the first card I made with these stamps with you :).

I used a cute penguin from the penguin party stamp set, I colored the image with distress markers and waters (I made another video so you can see how I colored this one). The papers are from Create a Smile Stamps too and I tried to find a couple of matching markers to go with the papers. To finish my card I added a couple of sequins from Doodlebug.

Misschien heb je mijn foto op instagram al gezien met de nieuwe spullen van Create a Smile Stamps, ik kon niet wachten tot ik weer wat kaarten kon maken ermee :). Vandaag is het dan zover en kan ik mijn eerste kaart delen die ik met de stempels heb gemaakt.

Ik heb de schattige pinguin van de penguin party set gebruikt. Ik heb de afbeelding ingekleurd met distress markers en water (en ik heb er weer een video bij gemaakt). Het papier wat ik heb gebruikt is ook van Create a Smile Stamps. Om de kaart af te maken heb ik een aantal sequins van Doodlebug gebruikt.

Create a Smile Stamps is having a guest designer call for july so I'm adding this card there. Would love to be a guest designer!

Create a Smile Stamps heeft een oproep voor een gast ontwerpen voor juli, dus daar geef ik deze kaart ook bij op. Het lijkt me erg leuk om eens een maandje gast-designer te zijn!

Crustaceans, before this month I didn't even know what it means. Crustaceans? For some reason it reminded me of crackling. And well, I think you could associate crustaceans with crackling ;). But okay, that was the first thing I learned this month. Crustaceans are one of the big groups of arthropods (the what? I need to work on my English biology ;)). They have crabs, lobsters, shrimp, and barnacles (yeahh then I knew what we were talking about). You'll find all of them living in the water or in very wet environments. So when I figured out what we were looking for, I started drawing the ones that appealed most to me. Did you know that pillbugs are crustaceans too? Well, I surely didn't think of them when I was starting to draw haha.

'Crustaceans', toen ik het woord voor het eerst las dacht ik wel even 'huh?? wat moet ik nu toch gaan tekenen?'. Maar na wat onderzoek kwam ik erachter dat het het Engelse woord voor 'schaaldieren' is. Onder andere krabben, kreeften en garnalen vallen hieronder. Maar ook de pissebedden blijken familieleden te zijn. Nu zijn die laatste niet het meest aantrekkelijk om te zien dus ik heb er voor gekozen om meer te focussen op de krabben en kreeften ;). 

I started sketching some crabs and lobsters and making some patterns (that was the other part of the assignment). At first my patterns were mostly about flowers, I just love drawing flowers and making patterns with them. But when we got the real assignment I decided to give my pattern a more 'sea-life' feeling and I used some stylized coral for my final design. With the assignment Lilla gave us a beautiful color pattern idea with sea glass and pottery. I based my color scheme on that idea.

Ik ben dus ook begonnen met het schetsen van de kreeften en krabben. Daarnaast heb ik wat patronen opgezet (een ander gedeelte van de opdracht), waarbij ik eerst vooral uitging van bloemen. Maar bij het zien van de eindopdracht heb ik toch besloten om voor een meer 'zee-gevoel' te gaan en koraal te gebruiken als basis voor mijn patroon. Bij de opdracht zat ook een mooie foto met allerlei soorten glas uit de zee, die kleuren heb ik gebruikt als basis voor mijn eindopracht.

At the end of the month, I realized that I fell in love with crustaceans a little bit. I really don't want to think about eating them, but they're pretty cool to draw ;).

Aan het einde van de maand kwam ik erachter dat ik die 'crustaceans' toch nog leuk ben gaan vinden. Ik moet er nog steeds niet aan denken om ze op te gaan eten maar ze zijn eigenlijk best leuk om eens te tekenen ;).
